In an interview on Inquirer dot Net, Chief presidential legal counsel Sergio Apostol recently said that the administration is considering fielding either Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, Quezon City Mayor Sonny Belmonte, and MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando for the 2010 Presidential Elections. However, they also didn’t close their doors to the idea of adopting Senate President Manny Villar to become their standard bearer in 2010.

The problem with the administration is that they weren’t able to develop a strong candidate because of President Arroyo’s negative ratings. The constant issues on corruption, political killings, and bombings keep on coming with every day that passes. It’s reached a point wherein people think that being endorsed by the President is like a Kiss of Death. Look at what happened to the Senate Elections. The Administration slate got decimated. Even the celebrities like Cesar Montano didn’t stand a chance.
It’s a good thing that the administration is thinking of adopting candidates like Roxas, Villar, or maybe even Vice President Noli De Castro. By doing this, they are getting an administration candidate that is not directly linked to the President. Combine this with their strong political machinery and the Opposition will have to go through hell and back to win.
Here’s a quote from the article on Inquirer.net:
Manila Representative Bienvenido Abante, a Lakas member, said he was more inclined to support Villar or for the administration to forge an alliance with Villar’s group.
“He [Villar] is a very experienced man both in politics and business. We need somebody who came from the poor family. He rose from the ranks. I think he can be a very good president,” Abante said in a separate phone interview.
I’d love to see a Villar-Roxas fight for the Presidency on 2010 with Villar as the administration candidate and Roxas for the opposition.

Hi there! I am Kevin Ray N. Chua, 17 years old from Cebu City. I would like you to check out my blog, the MAR ROXAS FOR PRESIDENT in 2010 BLOG at http://marroxas2010.blogspot.com

Thanks Kevin. I’ll check it out
Roxas vs. Villar vs. De Castro /gg
I’ll go for mar roxas anytime. just keep korina in the background (or send her somewhere for exile), she’s a liability!
“We need somebody who came from the poor family.”
That’s pretty disturbing. It’s an indication of the very misled stigma that all ‘rich’ people are greedy and cannot be trusted. Does it matter whether the person came from a poor or rich family? Power corrupts all the same, whether from a poor or a rich family. Nobody should discount people with an affluent heritage.
I still think that Roxas is still lacking experience to be a president. Vice mun then after that president na.
Siguro si Villar at Roxas needs more experience, don’t know about De Castro since he has already seen many faces of problems that concerns the country.
Alas, I won’t vote either of the 2.
It would be much more interesting if “Manny Pacquiao vs Mar Roxas”

Villar, Roxas and other wannabees doesnt fit my bill !!! they are all nonsense !!! I will go for our “Hero: Mr. Bayani Fernando !!! A hands on worker cares for doing what is right no matter who gets hit !!! He is not afraid to lose votes as long as what he is doing is for the good of the people in general !!! Hear those wannabees speak scripted populus declarations to win particularly to voting masa. But Bayani Fernando is the choice of the thinking masa !!!! I will go all the way for Bayani !! that is a choice i will not regret win or lose, but I know Bayani will win because the masa are now thinking.
