A barrage of complaints and suits were filed against the Philippine government by various members of the media this afternoon. They filed cases before the Makati Regional Trial Court. This resulted to a TRO being ordered by the Makati RTC Judge barring any military or police personnel from arresting members of the media for 72 hours. But wait, there’s more! Around 81 journalists also trooped towards the Supreme Court asking them to stop the government from threatening to file criminal cases against journalists if they interfere in military operations.
You know what? This is just insane. I’ve said it in an ealier article already – someone has to make a bill or a law that will clearly stipulate everything with regards to the media and their participation in military operations. Right now it looks like the Philippine government is being hostaged by the media. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not siding with anyone. In fact, I’m really disgusted with the way our government has been handling all the assassinations lately. Parang walang nangyayari. What I’m trying to point out is that they should compromise and that a law should be passed to finally address this.
It’s time to step up Loren or Noli! Make a stand for crying out loud. This is the industry that made you guys senators. The least you can do is at least initiate the bill that will kick things off.

I’m with the government on this one. I’ve said this before, the media’s right to cover news is NOT absolute. they are not above the law. they should not obstruct justice or impede in any police operation!
Just a question.. If this is a politics and a news site.. Why is it that the date from the post is remove. Isn’t it important for this kind of niche.. Just asking..??
