The latest SWS survey on the 2010 potential presidents was published in an article in the Inquirer today (February 14, 2008). Personally, I agree with the results and I believe that 2010 will be about 4-5 people similar to the 1992 Presidential Elections. It won’t be a polarized fight anymore like in 2004 when it was clearly administration versus the opposition (FPJ vs GMA). What’s good to note is that De Castro really doesn’t have a strong lead. It’s anyone’s ball game between the 4 top bets. Check out the survey results after the jump.

Duration: November 30 – December 3, 2007
Question: Under the present constitution, the term of President Arroyo is only up to the year of 2010 and there will be an election for President in May 2010. Who in your opinon are the good leaders who should succeed President Arroyo?30% – Noli De Castro

Here are some interesting points – the same question was actually asked in another survey on September 2 – 5, 2007. At that time, Loren Legarda led with a commanding 44%, followed by De Castro at 25%, and Villar and Lacson tied at 18%. The big gainers for this particular survey are Mar Roxas who suddenly shot up to the top 4. Loren Legarda was the big drop from 44% to 23%.
This will adjust again given the reactions of the presidentiables in the recent Lozada testimony. I have a strong feeling that Mar Roxas and Loren will get a considerable gain since they were the most vocal senators during the proceedings. More thoughts on these results later within the day. Need some time to process the information and organize my thoughts.

I think Arroyo’s successor should probably be VIllar because they’re both keen in business. Although some of you may think that being a businessman means corruption, etc. she actually made a great impact in our economy. The only problem is consumers can’t feel the change. And with the crisis in US, she will need to make more effort in improving the country’s economy.
