I am not against charity. However, this latest story I read on Inquirer is quite alarming. One of the co-hosts of Wowowee, RR Enriquez, was a victim of theft after kids who were posing as beggars took advantage of her and stole her mobile phone. Basically she just got into her car, a kid knocks on her window, she opens it, and another kid reaches in and grabs the mobile phone. It’s sad to see suffering and innocence masking malicious intents to steal.
So the moral of the story? If you’re planning on giving out spare change to street beggars, make sure your phone is out of reach should they try to steal it. By the way, here’s a picture of the Wowowee host I’m talking about. Found this on the net.
