Last friday, my Ragnarok experience finally came full circle. To those who don’t know, I’ve been a gamer for most of my life. In 2003, I started playing Ragnarok Online and it’s been one hell of a roller coaster ride since then. I won’t get into detail, but eventually I was hired by netGames, which eventually got merged to Level Up Games, the publisher of Ragnarok Online in the Philippines. The game has been a huge part of my life, and last Friday I found myself part of history once again. We did the press conference for the Ragnarok World Championships ‘08 at Mandarin Hotel, formally announcing that the Philippines will be hosting the prestigious event in Manila. More than 32 countries will fly in this October to compete for more than 1,000,000 pesos in cash prizes.

It was a really good press conference with our friends from the media from various TV Channels, publications, magazines, and newspapers. Actually, I was a bit nervous since I haven’t really done a press con as big as this. I assume a lot of press were interested since we were also able to fly in the Global Business Division Head of Gravity Inc., the developers of Ragnarok, Mr. Changki Kim.

Anyway, it was a really personal experience for me during the press con. Like what I said in my speech, I’d like to thank Jane, Ben, and everyone at Level Up for trusting me to work on the Ragnarok World Championships. And of course – thank you to all the gamers out there for continuing to support Level Up. What else can I say? It’s really been one hell of a career for me.
