Featured on Inquirer.Net Video

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Inquirer.Net Reporter Alex Villafania interviewed me about Level Up Games’ latest website a few days ago and it’s now uploaded on the Inquirer website. There’s also a corresponding article on Hackenslash, Inquirer.Net’s gaming website. I think this is the third or fourth time I was shown on Inquirer.Net and it’s mostly been about online games. Maybe someday I can get to talk about a different topic, hehe. Anyway, here’s the video of the interview:

Philippine Senate Field Trip: Senator Waukster?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I was at the Philippine Senate today to meet some clients and it was really fun walking around the building. You get to bump into very interesting people there and I was also able to get a glimpse of the hearings this afternoon. Of course my day wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t take any pictures! I decided to be a little more daring and my auntie and friend told me that I could actually sneak in a picture after the session. Presenting… Senator Waukster! XD

2009 P1.4 TRILLION Budget = Campaign Funds?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be asking congress to pass a P1.4-trillion budget for 2009. She explains that it will go mostly to paying off our debts and to boost infrastructure and social welfare projects. While there maybe a chance that the money does go into the projects that they’re being planned for - I have a stronger feeling that this is just a facade and a sham. With the 2010 elections just around the corner, political parties need to start raising funds and the administration will need billions of pesos to fund their huge party. There will be kickbacks left and right especially since most of the projects will deal with infrastructure. (more…)

My Meez Avatar

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

I’ve heard of Meez for several months now but I never bothered checking it out until today since Mich asked me to make my own avatar. I was a bit hesitant at first but I eventually ended up having fun making my own “mini-me”! Now If you noticed, I already replaced my profile picture with my Meez avatar. I also uploaded the widget on my Facebook account. Here’s the bigger full body version:

I’m on Plurk!

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Hey everyone! I recently signed up for a new twitter-like service called Plurk. It’s basically a timeline of what I do everyday or what I want to say at anytime during the day. I embedded the widget on my blog and you should be seeing it in the right sidebar. I’d like to invite all of you to sign-up for Plurk as well! It’s a really cool and simple web application that I think I’ll be using for a while. Add me up on Plurk if you decide to sign-up!

SONA: PGMA Feeling Dark Knight?

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

If there’s one thing I learned from today’s State of the Nation Address - it’s that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo idolizes Batman too much and she probably internalized the Dark Knight movie. She feels like that her unpopularity is a result of good decisions that will pave the way for a better and brighter Philippines. In fact, she goes on to say that she will “bear unpopularity to save the day for our country”. I agree with her on some points in her speech but I will always be against the view that the VAT is the only thing that is holding this country’s economy together. For the most part of her SONA, she was defending the VAT like it was the only thing that mattered! (more…)

In Anticipation of PGMA’s SONA

Monday, July 28th, 2008

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA) later today. It’s expected that the administration people would clam up and defend their leader and it’s also expected that the opposition would do everything they can do discredit the President. What about the Filipino people? Well if you guys believe in surveys, according to Pulse Asia, only 14% of Filipinos are actually inclined to believe what our President has to say tomorrow. This just backs up the recent studies that she is the most unpopular president ever in the history of our country. Combine her numerous scandals involving Garci and her husband with the recent debacle in oil prices, then you will really have an unpopular President. (more…)

Mang Jun the Barber

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

When I was in High School, I used to go to this Barber Shop near Kamuning called Sunday Barbershop. It was my favorite place to get a haircut and a shave because the barbers there gave a long and excellent massage after. I usually gave around P50-P100 to my regular barber, Mang Jun, as tip since I really found myself “de-stressed” afterwards. I went to this Barbershop almost twice a month for more than 6 years. I stopped going when we moved to Project 6 and I had to settle with Bruno’s (they charge so much!). Just today, I found myself in need of a shave so I went to a barbershop near my condo. Imagine my surprise when I found Mang Jun, my old barber waiting there for a new customer! We recognized each other in quickly and it only took a few minutes for us to make “kwento” about old times. Imagine guys - this guy was the one who did my haircut for ROTC in High School! Grabe! Hahaha! (more…)

Congress Spends 200M to Refurbish Batasan

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

At a time when prices of all goods are going up, especially oil, people usually tighten their belts and spend money on things that only matter the most. That’s not the case for our congressmen. Instead of using money for programs that would address the insanely rising prices, they would rather renovate their office using a whooping amount of P200M. Yan ang totoong ginagawa sa pera na nakukuha sa VAT. Mas magandang CR at kung anu-anong walang silbing bagay. Argh. (more…)

Turning Gaming into E-Sports

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

I’ve always been a gamer all my life and for the most part of it, I was very competitive. Maybe that’s the main reason why a career in gaming was so attractive for me. When the opportunity presented itself, I literally grabbed it with both hands and did my best to prove not just to the company, but to myself that I deserve to be there. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in working for a gaming company the past few years it’s that gamers don’t really want too many things. They just want the game to work without bugs and they just want to be recognized for all of their efforts in-game. Since I can’t really force our developers to make sure all games are 100% bug free, I worked on a project that would solve the second issue. WWW.GAMEHEROES.PH is a website that is dedicated to just honoring the best gamers in the community.
