Despedida Dinner for Chink

Despedida Dinners can be sooooo depressing. It’s basically your “last” time together with someone dear to you and it brings a lot of people to tears. Last night, I met up with my guildmates from Shadow Circle, a barkada that started from the virtual online world of Ragnarok. While it was really a sad occasion, I couldn’t help but break a smile as I watched my old guildmates laugh and talk as if they were friends from High School. If people ask me why online games are so successful and addictive, there’s your answer. It’s not because of game features or graphics – it’s the community or the social aspect which binds people together.

I know that in the coming years, I’ll continue to have solid friendships with these people. Even though it was all virtual, we’ve been through a lot of trials, challenges, and accomplishments that real friendships don’t even get a chance to have in years.

To Chink, all I can say is that we will pray for your safety and success while you’re in the US. You’ve always been a go-getter and your aggressive personality combined with your sweet charm and grace will definitely help you in becoming a better professional and person as you move on to bigger things in your life. We will miss you and we hope that you don’t forget to give me and Mich a ring when you visit the Philippines again next year!
