While Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero is denying rumors that he’s running for the Presidency in 2010, MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando is asking to be annointed as the LAKAS-CMD standard bearer in the upcoming Presidential elections. In an interview with Inquirer in Pangasinan, he further explained that no one else from LAKAS or KAMPI have signified their intention to run. I think that’s something you have to admire about the MMDA Chairman. He’s so blatantly honest and he really acts quick. As soon as he makes up his mind on something, he commits 110% and will do everything in his power for him to reach his goals.
As for being endorsed by PGMA, he had this to say:

“But, of course, when you’re the administrator, it’s always negative. The opposition can always hurl anything at you, including the kitchen sink,” Fernando said.
“But there’s still time for the President to improve on that rating … I think people will eventually get to see the things that she has done over the years,” he said.
Fernando said he was aware that with Ms Arroyo’s dismal rating, anyone she would endorse for president would be adversely affected.
“But, I’m part of her administration so I’ll stand by her. I have no reason to part or break relations with anyone,” he said.

I can see why you’d be put off by such brass deed, after all the oak tree of corruption starts from a seed of seemingly innocuous action. Having said that, I wouldn’t quibble over small matter like that, Bayani in my opinion is one person who is capable and has proven to deliver good results. It’s understandable that not everyone will like him because when you start weaning people out of their bad habits and force them to follow the rules of the land, you’ll bound to look anything but charming. It all happened in Marikina before. People were raging for all the changes implemented by Bayani, but when they started to see the differences, their hatred changed into a sense of pride all because Bayani didn’t buckle from the hurdle of unpopularity.
Well I think he’s better than KABAYAN whom I think would be the one GMA would endorse. For me though, Miriam Santiago would be the best choice for the administration.

Based on what i see and opinion, i can say Bayani would be a good leader for us Filipino. Sa ngayon sya pa lang ang nakikita ko na may paninindigan for what he believe, ang iba dyan puro pamumulitika ang iniisip puro pabango ng pangalan. Si Bayani hes not afraid of trying he doesnt care what other will say. I think thats the kind of leader that will be suitable for us.
