Do you guys remember Elly Pamatong? He was the 2004 presidential candidate who was disqualified and eventually ended up scattering spikes along EDSA to get attention. A lot of people branded the guy crazy and KSP and it looks like he’s at it again. He recently filed an impeachment complaint against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. I still think that this guy should be put behind bars for the hassle he caused during the spike incident.

In a five-page complaint, Elly Velez Pamatong, a disqualified presidential candidate in 2004 accused Arroyo of allegedly violating her constitutional duty to act with “utmost integrity and loyalty to the Republic,” “utmost responsibility and patriotism, and “utmost efficiency and justice.”
The complainant cited the President’s public confessions regarding her phone conversations with resigned elections commissioner Virgilio Garcillano during the 2004 elections and her signing of the controversial national broadband network agreement with China’s ZTE Corp. even when she knew that there were alleged irregularities in the contract.
“For making public confessions to the effect that she violated her duty to act and serve the Republic with utmost responsibility, integrity, efficiency, loyalty, and act with justice and patriotism, the undersigned hereby most respectfully prays that this impeachment complaint be given due course,” Pamatong said.
This complaint will definitely just flop. Waste of time if you ask me.

In the opposition’s point of view though, this is a ploy of the Administration to preserve PGMA’s presidency.
You can only file an impeachment on an elected officer once in a year after which the accused official is immune for one year. This means if the filed impeachment is junked, other submissions with stronger proofs will have to wait another year hehe
I hope he realize that his action in a way weakens the valid and well thought out cases put forward by others.
But if he’s really serious, we can’t deny him merit for his tenacity and persistence.
