President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be asking congress to pass a P1.4-trillion budget for 2009. She explains that it will go mostly to paying off our debts and to boost infrastructure and social welfare projects. While there maybe a chance that the money does go into the projects that they’re being planned for – I have a stronger feeling that this is just a facade and a sham. With the 2010 elections just around the corner, political parties need to start raising funds and the administration will need billions of pesos to fund their huge party. There will be kickbacks left and right especially since most of the projects will deal with infrastructure.
I was thinking that there should be an annual budget reporting of how the government spent their budget to the general public. Sure it will be boring to talk about numbers the entire day but I’m pretty sure a lot of people will be there to criticize and examine how the money was spent and if there were any irregularities.
Katas ng VAT… para sa kampanya ng 2010? Hehehe.

And that’s our money dammit!
Dum dum dum! It has begun!
amp 1.4 trillion? ilang PS3 mabibili ko dyan lol…… CORRUPT talaga
Hahaha walang banning dito noh. I love it when people have very intelligent things to say in this blog. I still disagree though. The timing of the budget increase is too fishy.
I’m all for annual or even better biannual budget report with a bigger coverage than the nonsense drivel that is the SONA. A trillion is certainly no small change, even a tiny fraction of that budget would mean several millions of potential kickbacks.
