PGMA Planning To Extend her Term

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has finally revealed the true motive behind the Bangsamoro GRP-MILF deal that her administration has been pursuing secretly for the past few months. The main reason? It’s to lay down a precedent to an eventual move to amend the Philippine Constitution to change the form of government into Federalism. While I am not 100% against Federalism, I am just really concerned that this is just a ploy to extend her term in power. I’m not an expert political analyst, so I’ll try to talk about this issue as much as I can without political jargon. Why do I think this is just a ploy for her to extend her term? Find out after the jump. By the way, I also embedded video interviews of Senators Pimental, Pangilinan, Legarda, and Zubiri.

There are two ways on how PGMA can overextend her welcome in the top position of the country:

1. Congress directly extends the term of the Presidency during the Con-Ass
2. Government is changed from Presidential to Parliamentary. Congress votes for Prime Minister. Who owns majority of the congressmen? GMA. She’s eventually elected as Prime Minister.

I pray and I hope that our Senators will do their job and make sure that PGMA doesn’t get an extension out of this - regardless if we do shift to a Federal form of government.

Here’s Senator Pimentel on the topic:

  2. I don’t think that the people are really that naive not to believe that this plan has nothing to do with GMA wanting to cling a little longer to power. The truth is, she hasn’t done the Philippines any good and there’s no amount of press releases can change the fact that life in the Philippines has become dire under her rule. Our debt soars and don’t pretend for a second that those monies went to the benefit of the people who will end up paying for those debt. It’s a double whammy craftily planned by GMA. Not only that we have to pay those debt for our and our children’s lifetime, we also have to contend ourselves with the substandard public service offered by the government because the big chunk of the revenue ends up servicing our ginormous foreign debt she accrued during her brief stint at the palace.

  3. @me
    +1 I agree.

  4. +1 I refused to believe back then that GMA is the vile leader that the opposition and leftists always claim..

But now I’m not so sure.. I don’t relish the politics talk, but if I had anything to say about her: I don’t trust her motives/actions anymore.

When I think about it, what’s evident for the last two presidents we had:

Erap has lust for money.. Fair enough, he was ousted.
GMA has lust.. for power. Now that’s beyond just money.

    Just my opinion, my assessment.
