I watched JJ Abrams’ Star Trek last week. The movie itself was fantastic but what I hate is that I was subjected to a 3-4 minute advertisement of MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando prior to the movie. In the commercial, he talked about how good and effective the MMDA has been and that he should get a chance to do it for the whole country. In other words, he was telling you that he wants to run for President in 2010. If I’m not mistaken, running ads on movies, especially big hit ones like Star Trek, costs hundreds of thousands, if not millions of pesos (depending on the number of theaters). That money is coming from the government, which comes from us – the tax payers.
To MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando, please stop using the money of the public to further your political ambitions.
I know that the COMELEC can’t do anything about it since they have no jurisdiction over you because you’re not a formal candidate yet, but please have the decency and the class not to stoop to this level. This is a clear abuse of public office.

It’s not only in movie theaters. Where ever you go that’s under the MMDA, you see pictures of Bayani Fernando. They’re on posters, banners and billboards, which, are supposed to be public service reminders and announcements. Having his photograph on there doesn’t even add anything to it and sometimes BF’s photo is even BIGGER than the actual messages on the poster, banner or billboard. It’s just a waste of space. I’m all for recognizing the good BF has done throughout the years but, self promotion, forcing it in our face and while using the people’s tax pesos to do it, is just wrong and there is no way to justify it.
I think it will be helpful to the public if we write a story about the 9 personalities who are being accused by Miriam of using public funds to pursue to their poltical ambition. some are even using public funds to go abroad and watch manny pacquiao. the point is there are many things that you can be angry about in this country.
I talked to someone who once hate Bayani. Lately, he realized na bakit ba ako galit dito eh samantalng marami akong dapat mas kagalitan. Trabaho lang naman to ng trabaho at di pa nga sya pumirma sa mga anomalous WB contracts nung DPWH secretary pa sya.Marami syang na solve na perennial problems despite na sa buong buhay nya ay wala pa raw syang pinapakulong o pinapapatay na tao.

Is the padyak or OFW commercial about the senate?
Is going to Pacquiao fight about its agency?
Are the billboards of congressmen,mayors, councilors and kagawads about their agencies.
If there is now a snowballing support for Bayani today..its not becuase of the infomercial of MMDA. It is because those who disapproves on Bayanis touch on Katipunan, for instance, realized that the traffic in that area has greatly improved and these former critics are now his defenders.
We know that Carlo will also write about the other infomercials to show that he is not knitpicking on Bayani only.

anyway, sure enough this is playing dirty on the part of bf. but everyone is playing dirty, so why cant he? id rather have him cheat and then win than have the other imbeciles as president. mandadaya din naman yang mga yan. si gma nga nandaya pero wala naman magandang nangyari, long weekends lang. gusto kong makita ang mga nagawa ni bayani sa maynila on a nationwide scale. im sure he cant win cleanly. he should cheat and then make this country better. machiavelli, anyone?

Bayani though uses public fund for his self interest nevertheless has accomplished great things for metro manila. You have mentioned the improvements on katipunan through elevated U turn as commendable project.
kung baga sa advertisement lang sya gumagastos and hindi naman lahat ng iyon ay para sa image nya, para din yun sa image ng metro manila at ng MMDA.
natutuwa ako sa kasalukuyang ginagawa ni BF, sayang nga lang at kulang pa ito para mapansin sya ng mas nakararaming tao.

taga cainta ako dati na nagkataon na napasama sa free training ng kumpanya nya doon.it was in 1995 di pa nga ata sya mayor noong time na yun.it was six months free training after work.isang karaniwang laborer lang ako noon.since then i never realise na yun ang maging puhunan ko.am now here in australia as skilled worker with my family.
i believe na likas sa kanya ang maging strikto at matulungin.lahat ng ginagawa nya is to discepline and help.
