Right now we have around 30-35% penetration of the population using the Internet. A time will come when this number will skyrocket and I’m betting it will happen in the next 5 years. Majority of Filipinos will be able to connect and meet the Internet for the first time not via laptops or desktops but through their mobile phones. We’re already seeing Php2,000 Android smartphones entering the market. This is a game changer.
When that time comes information will be democratized and people who want to run for office will no longer have to sell their souls to raise campaign funds. Informed debate will happen on the Internet because the medium is built for that. TV only dedicates a fraction of the time it has for news and even then they still have to worry about ratings. Because of this being a celebrity will no longer be an advantage when it comes to running for public office. It might even be a disadvantage.
I’m tired of the same old faces. Change is looming in the horizon and I am excited.
For now: Pray harder. Be better. Care more. Love more. Serve more. Learn more. Live more (naks, Smart).
So that when the time comes, you will be ready.

I respect Senator Tito Sotto because hes in the service for such a long long time.. But I can’t imagine that he look at us (bloggers) like where just doing “kwentong barbero” in our blogs. Nasaktan ako sa sinabi nyang “bakit ko naman ikoquote ang blogger?blogger lang iyon”. He doesnt know that sometimes bloggers were silent killers especially sa mga taong may low presence sa social media. Anyway, thank you Carl for this article. We should prove them they are wrong. Godbless and more power to you.
